It’s not you Summer, It’s me!

Summer is here with a vengeance, and for once the desert in  which I dwell isn’t getting the fuzzy end of the lollipop. Compared to previous years, this year has been cool. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still hot as hell, and probably hotter than most places where they are complaining about high heats, but it’s cooler than the summers we are used to. The rest of the country? They are used to cool summers, so a sudden burst of warm air is misery for them, which is completely understandable.

See? This heat that America has been punched in the face with? That’s why I hate summer! I have to deal with that heat year after year! It’s not that I hate the summer, I just really hate the heat! I hate the heat, and the misery that it puts everyone through! No good thing ever came from insane amounts of heat!

This year though? While I still don’t like it, I don’t really hate it either. Because we have had a mild summer here, I have gone from pure hate, to just a generally high dislike. Keep in mind, that could change! Especially if/when the heat decides to come back here and torture us desert folk some more before it leaves.

almost time to say farewell to summer

Well, summer is nearly over. I am pretty sure I will end up surviving it this year. Next year however? Well, that’s a different story.

Anyway, the summer hasn’t been that bad this year! Sure, it’s been hotter than those nice coastal cities, but in comparison to previous years? Not bad at all! In fact, I dare say it had been tolerable. Please note that I did say “Had”, as in past tense.

Apparently, before the summer does fade away, the season decided to whack us with a heat-wave. Not just any heat-wave either mind you! It’s the hottest heat-wave on record! I am honestly surprised that there is life here in the small desert town! Why aren’t people just bursting into flames? I mean we are talking temps over 120 degrees! By all rights we should just be bursting into flames!

This heat wave has been attacking us for the past week or so, and the heat is constant! Even the night air hasn’t offered any breaks from the extreme heat. On the bright side however, according to the local news, this heat wave should be breaking tomorrow, and making way for cooler weather. So, obviously that’s something to look forward to, and I am sure it will work out just like that too, because as we all know; Weather forecasts are notoriously accurate and are never wrong.

Summertime sucks

I hate the heat! Which also means, I hate the summer! See, where I live is out in a small desert town, and as I’m sure you are able to guess, Desert means it gets really damn hot!

So, the next question you would probably ask is this: “Why do you live in a desert if you hate the heat so much?” and I must confess, that’s a good question! The answer is simple though. My family moved here when I was younger, and now that I am an adult? Well, my family still lives here! I am close to my family, even though we don’t always get along, and to just walk off into a much cooler, possibly coastal area, just because I dislike the heat? Well, that would be kind of screwed up.

So, I am here for my family, that however does not change the fact that it gets bloody hot! Hell, it hasn’t even really become summer yet, and already we have been pounded by heat well over 100 degrees. If this is a sign of things to come when summer really does fully hit? Well, the idea is frightening. It scares the bejeezus out of me.

The only good thing is that my A/C is working fine, so hopefully it doesn’t break down. That would probably kill me, literally! I mean, it doesn’t help too much during the day. The house heats up faster than the A/C can cool it off, but at night? The A/C makes it tolerable, and allows me to be able to sleep instead of tossing and turning covered in my own sweat.

Did I mention I hate the heat?

Summer approaches..

Summer is drawing closer and closer. I dread it’s arrival. I am really not a huge fan of the season. In fact, I will go as far as saying that I hate it. Maybe I detest it so much because I live in a damn desert? Yea, that’s probably why. The heat gets unbearable, and we have several heat related deaths. Which is a horrible way to go! Not that there’s really a good way to go, but you get my meaning.

On t the bright side though, we have actually had a very nice Spring. Usually we don’t have a spring. We have winter and then when the rest of the world is enjoying their spring, we are hit with 100 degree summer heat. This year was different though! In fact, I actually enjoyed the spring! Wasn’t too hot, wasn’t too cold. Lots of rain. It was perfect! Although, that should be coming to a crashing halt this week! According to our local news, the heat will gradually be increasing and toward the end of the week, we will be stuck with summer heat.

I can’t wait for Fall!
