MAFIA II 18

I preordered Mafia II quite awhile ago, and have been eagerly looking forward to it. I must confess however, that I did not like the original Mafia game, in fact I despised it. However, that being said, I also despised Red Dead Revolver but I believe the sequel Red Dead Redemption is one of the best games to come out to date. So, I am hoping that the game is leaps and bounds better than the original, and after playing the Demo and viewing the commercials, it would seem like it is a lot better than the other one. Either way, I guess I will find out tomorrow.

Anyway, since I preordered the game from Amazon I have been extremely anxious! In fact, I have been so anxious that I decided to play an older 360 mobster inspired game. The game was called “The Godfather: The Game”, and as I am sure you can guess, it was based on the movie “The Godfather”.

When I originally got the godfather game, I wasn’t impressed. In fact, I despised the game and felt it was one of my worst video game purchases. However, when I played it again recently my whole view changed. I found myself enjoying the game. In fact, I found myself loving the game. I enjoyed it so much that I found it hard to put down, and just tonight finished it. What started out as a simple way to pass away some time until the release of an anticipated game, became an extremely enjoyable gaming experience.

I remember that there was a sequel based on the godfather game. I remember that I didn’t enjoy that either, and was glad I only rented it. However, after enjoying the original I have decided that, maybe after I finish Mafia II I might go out give “The Godfather: The game 2” another chance.

Good news every peoples! The Aliens Versus Predator demo was released on the Xbox marketplace. It’s a multiplayer demo, so gives you a good idea on how this title will play.

I have been looking forward to this game for awhile, and anxious to pick it up the day the title is released, so when I saw the demo on the marketplace I did a little dance and got down with my badself. I then sat back down, and proceeded to begin the download. The wait wasn’t long, but it seemed like forever. I sat there with visions of acid blood and thermal vision dancing in my head.

Then, the download was complete and I fired the demo up. Apparently not as many people were as excited about the demo as me, since it took a good 15 mins for me to find a match. Then, a match was found, and the deathmatch begun! All my anticipation, my hopes, my everything totally dashed to pieces! The game played like crap! It looked even worse! I realise it’s a demo, and not based on the final released product, but come on! This stunk royally! It was bad enough to make me decide to NOT get the game when it comes out at least. I can wait a few months til it reaches the bargain bins.

It’s a pity really, because I played and loved both the Alien Vs. Predator games on the PC as well as the Atari Jaguar. Those games, for their time were incredible! I had such high hopes for this! My Predator fanboyishness dreams now totally in the crapper. Hey, at least I have Mass Effect 2 to keep me occupied til the new splinter cell game is released sometime this month! 😀

left4deadValve is releasing what i believe to be one spiffy game! The game is called Left 4 Dead and it does involve zombies. As an added bonus, these aren’t your slow moving zombies…heck no! These are the Super-fast-moving-zombies-that-travel-in-giant groups kinda zombies…….but with a twist! See? The zombies are changing. Some are getting abilities…Everything from sploding goop onto people and attracting masses of zombies..To throwing out a long grabber thing and wrapping around the prey and dragging you to it….and if you’re the unfortunate survivor that falls prey to one of these “Super-Zombies” then you are going to need the help of your fellow survivors t get free…Did I mention this was an on-line Co-op game?

Yep! You go online, and help your fellow survivors escape the city. You play one of 4 characters, and blast a trail through brain-eating zombies until you get to a safe spot…then, you rest up, gear up and move on. your survivor buddies will rely on your bullets, and your aid in patching them up, just as you will rely on them. After all, its a “Help or be eatin'” world out there now!

Not a fan of playing with others? Dont like going online? No worries, yo can alway play offline in solo mode with computer controlled allies. This in some ways is more efficient yet in other ways its more hassle..Solo mode you don’t have your allies running off ahead leaving you to get pulled to your death by a zombie group, and if something goes screwy…well, you only have yourself to blame….on the down side, the NPCs aren’t very bright, and in many cases you will be doing most of the intelligent stuff. Sometimes its easier haing quick thinking pawns…errr..people doing the hard stuff while you stand back and…erm…guard the back position.

The demo was released both on PC [STEAM] as well as XBOX Live, since it’s going to be released for BOTH the Xbox360 and the PC as well, so whichever is your gaming platform of choice, you can get it. I personally have yet to decide which gaming platform im going to go with. On the Xbox 360 its obviously going to run just as smooth on your system, as it does someone elses…HOWEVER on the PC, there likely going to be MODs and expansions. (Kinda like the zombie mod that was released for halflife 2…god, i wish that was available as down loadable content on the Xbox live service!)….The choices, the choices….

Ok, so im sure some of you have heard of the MMORPG Age of Conan (Known here on as AoC). If you haven’t then you really should look into it. The game looks incredible, and certainly worth checking out. My only complaint is, unlike on other MMORPGs AoC does not offer a free trial from their website.

This sort of bugs me. Why? Because I desperately want to play this, but I have heard the controls are clumbsy and things that the game could be improved on in various areas. Some people however dont know what they are talking about, however I don’t want to purchase this game and end up finding out…yea, ok…everyones right…it kind of sucks.

Also, the fact that they dont have a trial on their website available like most games….kinda sends up a red flag that the game sorta sucks….and that they kinda sorta know it sucks too.

If however the game isn’t as bad as I have heard…I will happily buy and subscribe to the game. As it is though, I am happy with Lord of the Rings Online, and at least I know that doesnt suck….so, until I can see if AoC sucks, im just going to play it safe and stick to LotRO………..But…….

PLEASE put out a freakin AoC trial!
