batman vs superman

It’s taken me awhile to write this review on the movie “Dawn of Justice”. A lot has been going on, and I just haven’t had much time to write here in this blog. However, since the DVD is supposed to be released sometime next month, I figured I would do a review of the movie for anyone who might be considering picking up that DVD.

I’m going to start by reminding everyone that I wasn’t a big fan of the movie “Man of Steel”. However, I still watched this movie because it had Batman! Now, I was one of those people who from the beginning said this movie was going to suck because Ben Affleck was playing batman! I was wrong! Don’t get me wrong, Affleck was a HORRIBLE Batman, and the movie sucked, but it wasn’t because of Ben Affleck! He just added to the suckitude! In fact, I would say that the movie sucked mainly because of Jesse Eisenberg who played Lex Luthor! He was a horrible choice! Between Ben Affleck and Eisenberg I have to wonder what the casting crew thinking!

Lex Luthor is played like a whiny lunatic! Less like a billionaire criminal mastermind and ultimate nemesis to Superman, and more like a whackjob who should be committed to Arkham Asylum. It’s like they wanted to make Lex Luthor similar to Batmans typical rogue gallery. Someone like the Riddler, or the Joker but with money! It’s horrible!

Like I said, Affleck was horrible too! However, I expected that! I just HATE this version of batman so much! To be honest though? No actor could have made this version of Batman enjoyable. He even has a lame costume! This was hugely disappointing, because Superman and Batman are the only 2 DC characters that I enjoy! So, I really should have liked this movie, and I didn’t! This is the first Batman movie that I didn’t like, so congratulations Zack Snyder! You ruined Batman for me!

In fact, oddly enough the only saving grace of this movie was Wonder Woman! Her character seemed pretty well done, and she looked bad assed! Which is insane, because I don’t even like the Wonder Woman comics!

By the end of the movie I was bored out of my skull. I spent the last 30 minutes thinking about what I wanted to do when I got home. I can’t recall the last time I was that happy about a movie ending! When the credits began to roll I bolted! I was up and gone! I didn’t even stick around to see if there were post credits because I have no intention of watching any movies set in the DC cinematic universe. Except maybe Wonder Woman….If Snyder isn’t attached to it.

injusticeI have never enjoyed a fighter game in my life. When people were going crazy for street fighter, I was focusing on Final Fantasy or Dragon Warrior. So, Fighters have never had a spot in my gaming library. I picked this game up on a lark,. and didn’t expect to enjoy the game at all. I expected to just tool around with it a bit and go back to playing Battlefield 4, however I found myself quickly hooked on this game!

It’s made by the same folks who did the Mortal Kombat games(And in fact has 1 MK character in it..Scorpion), so you know the game is polished. The graphics are absolutely incredible and will make your eyes melt with pleasure!

So, what’s so great about this game? Too much to list, but I will try to list a few! Most characters have several different costume options/skins, so you can wear a classic superman outfit, or superman from the current movie costume. You can wear a classic batman outfit, or his outfit from Arkham city, You can be Classic Green Arrow, or “The Hood”/Arrow from the series. There are a lot of costumes.

Also, the arenas are interactive, and will become damaged as you have your superbrawl. you can also interact with items around the arena. There’s not TOO many arenas, but enough to give you a variety of choices. I hope more arenas get released as DLC.

The best thing though, is the story mode. Now, I am not a big fan of fighters, so I am not sure if it’s common or not, but this game has a full featured campaign mode, which is basically cutscenes connecting to a pre-determined arena battle. It’s an enjoyable story as well, and I couldn’t stop playing.

Once the campaign is done, the funs not over though, since there are STARS Missions, Multiplayer Arenas and Single player arena battles(Which should just basically be practice for multiplayer mode).

So, I was searching around on the Mego Museum website, which is a really good place to visit if you are into collectible Mego toys, or even if you just want to take a look at all the mego goodness. While surfing through the website, I came across this picture of these two love birds holding hands.

Awww, it’s so romantical!

You’ve all no doubt heard of the movie Batman Begins, which starred Christian Bale, Liam Neeson, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Katie Holmes, Gary Oldman, Rutger Hauer and probably more. I mean, the movie is packed with more celebrities than a Beverly Hills Rehab center. You’ve heard of it right? I’m pretty sure most everyone who is alive and breathing has at least heard of it. You might be like me, and had never watched it, but you’ve heard of it. If you haven’t, you should come out from underneath your rock more often, the sun will do you good!

Anyway, the other night, I finally decided to sit down, and actually watch the movie. Why did I decide to watch it you ask? Various reasons, but one reason was because people kept telling me how great it was, and how it’s the best Batman movie ever created. Combining that, with my recent enjoyment of the game Batman: Arkham Asylum, I figured I would give it a shot.

So, I sat down and watched it. The special effects were good, and most of the acting wasn’t bad. For the most part, I was impressed. What I wasn’t too thrilled with was Christian Bale. I am sorry, but he made a horrible batman! I know, I am probably shooting myself in the foot with this entry, because I am well aware that the vast majority of the population thinks he’s the best batman ever.

Don’t get me wrong, he is a capable actor, and his “Bruce Wayne” is good, but his Batman is horrible! Especially his Batman voice. What’s up with that? He sounds more like Billy Bob Thornton in Sling Blade, than he did Batman.

Other than that, the movie was good. I wouldn’t say it was the best Batman movie. I think it’s sequel Dark Knight was better, and even better still was the original Batman movie with Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson.

Batman: Arkham Asylum

The game Batman: Arkham Asylum has been out for a good while, not just a few months mind you, but a good couple years. You might now be wondering, Why has it taken me this long to review the game then. Well, the answer is simple; I hadn’t played it, nor did I have any intention of ever playing it. I just don’t usually play Batman games, primarily due to the curse that plagues Batman titles.

The reason I changed my mind on playing and reviewing the game? You see, at the time, I was under the impression that DC Universe Online was going to be released at the beginning of next month. So, I decided that in order to get ready for it, I would play through some games based on DC characters, however I would stick to current gen game consoles only. I started with Batman: Arkham Asylum, not because I had high hopes for the game, but because it was dirt cheap in the bargain bin of the local game store.

I brought the game home, and began playing. To my surprise, the game looked gorgeous, with fantastic voice acting. I was intrigued. I was surprisingly interested. In fact, I was so interested, that even after the DCUO delay was announced, I still continued to play.

The best part of the game, was the controls. It’s been a long time, since I have been able to play a game, and adapt to controls so easily. Plus, the fluid combat moves were incredible, and added to the realism, all the moves batman made while fighting, gave the appearance of a complex control setup, but kept it all very simple and easy to use.

Another aspect that I enjoyed was the voice acting, as mentioned earlier. The voices fit the characters, especially Mark Hamill who voices the joker. All the characters however have voice actors, perfect for their character that really brings them to life! Which is saying a lot, especially sue to the amount of characters in this game.

I loved everything about the game to be honest. Sure, the story was kind of cheesy and over the top, but that’s part of the charm of DC comics. Everything is unbelievable.

So, it looks like the Batman curse has been broken, and I am now eagerly looking forward to Batman: Arkham City!

New batman game idea

Anyone who has EVER played a “Batman” game, knows that batman games suck. They just do..It’s their curse. They have stunk ever since the NES days…and that has been awhile.

HOWEVER! I had got to thinking…and I thought of a Batman game I would love to play! So, here is my idea for a new Batman game…

Don’t base the game on the movies..the movies tend to suck, so chances are..The game will suck too! Don’t base it on the comics either because..Quite frankly, the fanboys prolly won’t like it, because in their eyes noithing is going to be as good as the comic..Plus, it’s just near impossible to get the feel right.

What’s left you say? A batman game based on the 60’s camp series “Bat-Man”! You can even get Adam West to do the voice of Batman! I mean, he has done voice work in other games..So it’s not like he’s opposed to video game voice work!

You *COULD* even have the game Cell Shaded if you want, but that would be a judgement call..It would add a cartoon look to the game and people would know that it isn’t serious..Plus cell-shading used to be all the rage right now..sooo….that would kinda add to the nostalgia factor, plus if made on the last generation consoles as sort of a last hurrah kinda thing, then cell shading would be pretty keen?

Also, when you punch a villian on occasion a little POW! or KABLAM! balloon could appear over the guy you just hit! You could even have a level where you must stop cat woman who has just stolen a priceless cat collar from the gotham egyptian museum…and the final battle with cat woman in the form of a mini-game that plays like one of those dance games that are so popular..and you have a dance off with her doing the batusi!

You could call the game.. “The Bat-Game!”

Okay, it might still sort of suck..thanks to the batman game curse..but really, it couldn’t possibly do any worse than the other batman games, PLUS! you would have the nostalgian bonus factor..Meaning, in reviews you would get that extra point or so..simply for Nostalgia!

I think it would be coolio, and I would definately buy it!
