Dragon Age: Origins

I know, I have ignored my wee little blog for awhile. Why is that? Well, the answer is I have been EXTREMELY busy. I haven’t even had a whole lot of time to get on the computer at ALL. The source of my busyness? Well, That would be my xbox 360. You see, a buttload of games have been coming out, and not the standard crappy games either. Games like Modern Warfare 2, Left 4 Dead 2 and Dragon Age! You can’t just ignore these games when they are released. You must hug them and embrace them and love them and show them the proper attention they deserve.

So, can I really be blamed for my recent disappearance? I think not! On the bright side, I should be burning out soon on the games, which will result in my attention being turned BACK toward my computer. However, if anyone REALLY misses me, I do still Twitter on a daily basis, several times a day, because Twitter can be accessed through Xbox Live! Plus, if you don’t want to go hunting me down on twitter, remember I have my twitter posts displayed here on my blog toward the bottom of the right hand section.

See? Now nobody has to have Shaide withdrawls!

xbox360logoI discovered a pretty damn keen program today called “PlayOn“! It’s easy to install, for the most part, and it will connect to your Xbox 360(or PS3 or Wii…or whatever your current generation of gaming system is) and allow you to watch Hulu on your TV through your gaming system. It will also stream YouTube, CBS, CNN, ESPN and your NetFlix view instantly video queue! Sound pretty cool right? Well, the program does cost, but there’s a free 14 day trial for you to check out to determine if this is your thing. Then, if you like it, just pay a small cost…less than the cost of a video game, and keep using it. That’s another good by the way, it’s one flat rate! It’s not subscription based like you might initially assume.

Now, some of the features are already made available through Xbox Live, such as the ability to watch your netflix view instantly queue. However many of the options are NOT available. So, it really is worth it. Definately something to check out at the very least.

left4deadValve is releasing what i believe to be one spiffy game! The game is called Left 4 Dead and it does involve zombies. As an added bonus, these aren’t your slow moving zombies…heck no! These are the Super-fast-moving-zombies-that-travel-in-giant groups kinda zombies…….but with a twist! See? The zombies are changing. Some are getting abilities…Everything from sploding goop onto people and attracting masses of zombies..To throwing out a long grabber thing and wrapping around the prey and dragging you to it….and if you’re the unfortunate survivor that falls prey to one of these “Super-Zombies” then you are going to need the help of your fellow survivors t get free…Did I mention this was an on-line Co-op game?

Yep! You go online, and help your fellow survivors escape the city. You play one of 4 characters, and blast a trail through brain-eating zombies until you get to a safe spot…then, you rest up, gear up and move on. your survivor buddies will rely on your bullets, and your aid in patching them up, just as you will rely on them. After all, its a “Help or be eatin'” world out there now!

Not a fan of playing with others? Dont like going online? No worries, yo can alway play offline in solo mode with computer controlled allies. This in some ways is more efficient yet in other ways its more hassle..Solo mode you don’t have your allies running off ahead leaving you to get pulled to your death by a zombie group, and if something goes screwy…well, you only have yourself to blame….on the down side, the NPCs aren’t very bright, and in many cases you will be doing most of the intelligent stuff. Sometimes its easier haing quick thinking pawns…errr..people doing the hard stuff while you stand back and…erm…guard the back position.

The demo was released both on PC [STEAM] as well as XBOX Live, since it’s going to be released for BOTH the Xbox360 and the PC as well, so whichever is your gaming platform of choice, you can get it. I personally have yet to decide which gaming platform im going to go with. On the Xbox 360 its obviously going to run just as smooth on your system, as it does someone elses…HOWEVER on the PC, there likely going to be MODs and expansions. (Kinda like the zombie mod that was released for halflife 2…god, i wish that was available as down loadable content on the Xbox live service!)….The choices, the choices….

Fable 2 came out last week, and I just have been so occupied with the game, that I haven’t had anytime to even write about it! Therefore, I shall correct that issue now and write a little something about this RPG title.

Where to begin? Well, the game is VERY similar to the first Fable game, so if you loved the original, there is also a good chance you will like FABLE 2. The game starts out similar to the original. You are a child, and several occurances occur where you can choose the “Right” thing to do, or the “Wrong” thing. The choices are small, but they are to show you how the game allows you the freedom to play how you want…Good or bad.

There are a few differences in FABLE 2 that help it stand out from the original. For instance in FABLE 2 you can choose to be either Male or Female. On top of being able to pick your gender, another difference is that you don’t travel the world of Albion alone this time. You always have your Trusty dog with you. Also, on occasion you will be joined by NPCs that will help you along the way.

In Fable 2 I set out thinking “The first Fable I played evil….This time Im gonna be a good guy dabnabbit!”..Although that thought process didn’t last very long, and my character has turned to a life of crime…..and has gotten quite fat.

Bottom line however, the game plays the same as the original, it has all the charm as the original and most of all it has all the excitement as the original. IF however you were one of the few who didnt like Fable…Then FABLE 2 probably isn’t for you…Me however? I love the game!
