Good-bye Mr. Monk

If you have not yet watched the final episode of Monk called Mr. Monk and the end Part 2 then do not read any farther, as this entry does contain spoilers if you haven’t seen it. Come back after you’ve watched it though :)

ok! Onto the blog post, which again may contain spoilers, you are warned.

Well, tonight marks the end of an era! Tonight, the final part of the two part series finale aired. This show will be missed. It’s one of the few shows still on the air, that I have looked forward to watching each week for many years. The episode managed to tie up all the loose-ends, which I must admit, I did doubt they would be able to tie it all up in a nice little package with a pretty bow, but they did!

One of the things I missed about the episode was the monk classic “Here’s what happened” followed by a black and white scene of the crime taking place. However just because the show didn’t have that didn’t mean the show was any less spectacular. Also, it would have been nice if they tied the whale into the series finale a wee bit more. However I loved every minute of it, and for the most part was kept on the edge of my seat.

The only thing I would have changed about the episode, would have been the  TAIL ending. When Monk is going into the crime scene, I would have had it where Molly was the victim. I mean, they didn’t show who the victim was, so I still can in my mind imagine that’s who it was. I know, a lot of people probably are thinking “What?? That’s horrible! Why would you want that kind of ending??” And the answer is simple, it puts Monk back full circle. Also, that ending would have had a surprise factor, it would have pulled at peoples heart strings. It would be an episode to remember and would say “Hey, Monk lives a life thats full of danger. Not everything in his world has a fairy tale ending.” Also, it would leave the possiblity open for a reunion movie.

All in all however it was a great finale for a truly fantastic television series.

Dexterfied!

Dexter stripDexter is like, the GREATEST show on Television right now. It’s original, which is an added bonus and it’s well written and has great acting which puts it over the top. They chose the PERFECT cast for this show. For instance, I don’t think anyone could pull the role of Dexter off better than Michael C. Hall! I mean, come on! He looks oh so normal, and yet…he also looks a little disturbed.  How perfect can you get?

Anyway! The new season of Dexter has started, and it’s off to a great start so far! I am extremely pleased thus far and am anxious to see how things play out. I should mention that this season John Lithgow is playing another serial killer in Dexters life. He too is really good at playing a disturbed person.

Anyway, it’s back on the air, though unfortunately for me, the night of the season premier a storm blew into town, and took out the cable lines in parts of town. Luckily however it wasn’t taken out ALL over town, and luckily for me, I had friends who have showtime <_<

SNL: The unwatched?

SNLDoes anyone actually still look forward to watching SNL? I mean, I know people watch it. There’s people in the audience, and even I watch it occasionally, but do people actually look forward to it coming on? Would you miss it if it were gone?

It seems like the show has gone severely downhill lately, and this season is no exception. The only reason I even still watch it, is because it’s on late at night and nothing else is on, because I have seen all the current Infomercials that tend to plague and clog the latenight cable lines. I however do NOT look forward to the show, and quite honestly, it’s been awhile since I have looked forward to it.

Back in the day I remember busting a gut laughing at skits and jokes. Now? I’m lucky if I chuckle once. I don’t even expect to laugh at the skits anymore. I’m more interested in seeing people slip up on their lines and spouting profanities on the air live. Now that’s more entertaining than the show is.

Gaming and TV watchin’?

xbox360logoI discovered a pretty damn keen program today called “PlayOn“! It’s easy to install, for the most part, and it will connect to your Xbox 360(or PS3 or Wii…or whatever your current generation of gaming system is) and allow you to watch Hulu on your TV through your gaming system. It will also stream YouTube, CBS, CNN, ESPN and your NetFlix view instantly video queue! Sound pretty cool right? Well, the program does cost, but there’s a free 14 day trial for you to check out to determine if this is your thing. Then, if you like it, just pay a small cost…less than the cost of a video game, and keep using it. That’s another good by the way, it’s one flat rate! It’s not subscription based like you might initially assume.

Now, some of the features are already made available through Xbox Live, such as the ability to watch your netflix view instantly queue. However many of the options are NOT available. So, it really is worth it. Definately something to check out at the very least.

She didn’t fall!

dancing-with-the-starsThis week I did something I have never done before, and most likely will never do again. It’s not anything exciting! I didn’t go shark jumping, bungee jumping or spelunking blindfolded. No! Nothing like that. Not even close! What I did do however is watch a reality show/contest thingie called “Dancing with the stars“. I am sure you have heard of it, as for some reason it’s a very popular series.

Now, maybe it’s just me, but I can’t get into this show. I honestly don’t see how it has lasted as many seasons as it has. I mean, why would you people watch this? Seriously? I mean, I hate watching people dance during plays, musicals or ice shows. Why the hell would it be any different if it’s celebs doing the dancing? Is there THAT many people out there who just can not get enough dancing? Seriously? There’s just not enough dancing in your life that you have this need to watch celebs foxtrot and salsa about for your entertainment?

I’m sorry, it was a snoozefest for me, although the salsa dances were kind of cool, but really that’s it. No enjoyment in the show for me.

Ok, if I am going to sit here and bash the show, and I knew before hand that I hate dancing, then WHY did I even bother watching it? Is that what you are asking yourself? Well, in case that is what you were asking yourself I will answer. The real reason I tuned into Dancing with the stars, is because, well quite honestly because one year someones false leg apparently fell off, or at least thats what I heard. So, clearly I wanted to see someone get embarassed. Mainly, I wanted to see if Kelly Osbourne would end up falling on her butt during a salsa dance. unfortunately she did NOT fall down, therefor i was robbed of my amusement for the evening.

Not only did she NOT fall down, she actually did pretty well too, although to be honest, I think the judges and her parents were exagerating how well she did to be honest. She was alright. Nothing more, certainly nothing to rave about like the judges were doing, and DEFINIATELY not a performance that would warrant the reaction her parents were giving her. I mean, come on! Mya was a thousand times better than kelly, and you sure as hell didn’t see the camera panning on any of her family crying and sobbing as she ran to her parents to hug them…I swear, Kelly seems like such a drama queen to me.

Anyway, show sucked and I wont watch it anymore.

Jericho movie? Yayness!!

Ok, one of my favorite shows of all time was a short lived series on CBS called “Jericho“. It was basically about life after a nuclear attack, and centered on the small town of Jericho, and what happened to them as they struggled to survive this odd point in time. They had to deal with fall out, Bandits/scavengers and even other towns. It was simply great!

Not great enough though apparently, since the show was cancelled after just one full 22 episode season. Which was really crappy because it ended in a HUGE cliffhanger.

I cried with sad.

HOWEVER! Apparently their was enough interest because enough people got a campaign going that ended up bringing the series back for a second season! This second season only lasted 9 episodes however, but did manage to tie up a lot of loose ends. Ever since then, jericho has been silent.

Good news however! Apparently a movie based on Jericho is in the works! Its slated for a 2010 release, but not a lot yet is known. The only thing for certain is that it will reunite the cast, and will not require you to have seen the past episodes to enjoy it. Apparently it’s supposed to be a broader look at the country. not just the town of Jericho.

is that not total yayness though? If you havent seen the series though, I highly encourage you to. The series is available on DVD, and if you have Netflix, then you are set. Not sure if you will like it? I will say this, if you are a fan of Jeremiah then you will love Jericho! Also, I should state that if you love Jericho you will love Jeremiah!

Dexter

dexterSo, there hasn’t been any good movies being released on netflix recently, so rather than just sit around with my thumb up my ass, I decided I would check out some TV shows that I haven’t watched before, and see if I have been missing out on anything of even remote interest. To my surprise, I did find one so far of interest. I’m not sure how I had missed it.

The show is called Dexter, it’s a showtime original series. Most likely you all know the premise, but I will do a quick break-down for those who don’t. Its about a guy named Dexter Morgan who works in a police lab and studies blood splatterings. Excitement right? Well, he’s also a serial killer! His target though is other killers. So, the show is about him going from day to day, trying to make sure his “Mask of sanity” doesn’t slip off for all the world to see.

It’s an incredible show. I love it, trying to get caught up before season 4 starts up this fall on Showtime. So far, I am up to season 2, and i can’t seem to pull away. I have to force myself to leave the TV. I don’t think I have watched this much TV in several years quite honestly.

Anyway, while watching Dexter season 2, I noticed that the debbie character stumbled across the book title “The Ice Princess”. Which I found slightly amusing, seeing as how Erik King (Who plays Doakes) was in the movie “Ice Princess”. Most likely it was just a funny coincidence instead of a friendly nod, since erik didn’t even have a huge part in the movie. However I thought it was amusing enough to note.

Fav show of the season?

One of my favorite TV shows this season is a returning series, and while I have enjoyed past seasons it never ranked as my “Favorite show of the season”. The show is called “Supernatural“, perhaps you have heard of it? It’s a show that can be found on the CW, and its always been a fantastic series. Although this season, has got to be the best season to date. It has twists and turns, you don’t know who’s good or bad..and quite frankly, anything can happen.

Another thing I love about Supernatural this season is the fact that it’s gotten a little more humor this year. Not to the point where it’s redonkulous, but where you get some nice laughs in appropriate places. One of the funniest moments this season was where Dean(Played by Jensen Ackles) lip synched “Eye of the Tiger” after the credits. You can view it here thanks to the power of youtube.

Credits

So, I was watching an episode of “Rescue me” a few days back, and in the credits they listed “Coma Boy” now, this was a reoccuring character, granted…his name was never said, cause the kid was in a Coma…but come on!  Coma Boy? Couldn’t they have just given the kid a name? Morgan, Stevie, Tobey….Any of those would be better in credit listings than “Coma Boy”….That just sounds like…a really bad super hero.

Other instances was “Drunk Girl”….There were a LOT of drunk girls, but I assume this referred to the drunk chick who flashed the main character her boobies. Since, it has character interaction…it went beyond just an extra I suppose.

What about “Skater #1″ and “Skater #2″? Now, I know the skaters they are talking about…but both came on the screen at the exact same moment…so, which is number 1 and which is number 2? And how did they decide who gets the number 1 spot?? :O

See? Credits confuse me…..Still…The “Coma boy” just cracks me up.

Who is….The Mole?!

Ok, so I’ve been watching this season of “The Mole“. It’s become somewhat of an addiction for me saddly, but it IS a great show! Too good for it’s own good as a matter of fact!

From the very first episode this season I had three main choices on who “The Mole” was. Those suspects were Nichole, Mark and Craig. Now, the series is nearly finished…it’s down to the final three players…and those players are? Nichole, Mark and Craig…DOH!

Ok, so obviously one of my choices were right…But which one? My guess is Nichole. Craig is a very close second…I however don’t believe too much that Mark is The Mole…and if he is? Well, he’s gotta be the worst friggen Mole in Mole history, because he’s pretty much single handedly been winning the game for everyone…

Nichole just seems like shes covering things up.

As for Craig? The only reason I choose him to begin with, is because he LOOKS like a mole…Doesn’t he? like one of them ground burrowing moles…..

It's Shaide!

Its me -.-
